A new doggie day care facility is set to open in Bolton this weekend – and the owner says he feels like his ‘dreams have come true’.
Your Pets Pals Doggie Day Care Centre based at Unit 4 Clegg Street next to Leverhulme Park will be open Monday to Friday offering dog owners across the borough a range of services.
Kevin Riley, director of the day care facility, said he was inspired to open the centre when he was out on a dog walk one day.
He said he wanted something new and that’s when his dreams began.
Kevin set up a dog walking service which then developed into a doggie day care centre alongside.
The centre is set to open on Saturday, November 4.
The 38-year-old who lives in Heaton said: “I was inspired to open the facility by my love of dogs.
“One day I was walking up Holcombe Hill and it was a freezing cold day, and I came across another dog walker, and it just sparked an idea in my head.
“At the time I was down with my job, and I thought right what do I want to do because I need to change something in my life.
“So, I thought to myself I want to work outside, and I want to work with animals, so I started a dog walking business and that has been running for two and a half years now.
“And then about 12 or 18 months ago I decided I wanted to add onto this, and I decided to open my own doggie day care facility, so I kept the dog walking going and decided to get some staff in and train them and it has gone on from there.
“I got turned down a lot from landlords who didn’t want doggy day cares in their warehouses and then I finally found one and that was this unit which I have been doing up since April and it is finally set to open this weekend.
“I feel very excited, it is like a dream has come true and I have got some fantastic staff as well who all care for the dogs so much.”
Kevin said the facility is already open, but it officially launches this weekend when building works should mostly be complete.
He said: “We are open already, but our official opening date is this Saturday, November 4, we are licensed to receive dogs already, but we were running at half a building site half a centre and the works should finally be completed before this weekend.”

At the facility people can find a range of areas which dogs can benefit from throughout the day.
Kevin said: “We have got a main area, a puppy area which has a quiet puppy and elderly dog area which then links onto a puppy agility area leading to the main agility and outside area.
“People have the option to book their dogs in for full days or half days and we also offer a pick up and drop off service.
"We have got plenty of things for the dogs to do including toys, enrichment activities, agility courses, trampolines, balls, sleeping areas with beds, heaters to keep the facility above ten degrees, we have a chill out area and grooming.”
People can register their dogs to attend the doggie day care facility through the website yourpetspals.co.uk/doggie-day-care.
Once registered people will be contacted, and a trial will take place before dogs are added onto the booking system.
People can then book services through the My Pet Walker app.
