A car was seized from a suspected uninsured driver in Bolton after being stopped “due to the manner of driving.”

The car was stopped by police on patrol in the Halliwell area on the evening of Monday October 30.

After stopping the car, officers than found that it was not properly insured.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This vehicle has been taken off the road this evening by Bolton North Neighbourhood Officers.

“The vehicle was stopped in Halliwell due to the manner of driving.

“Enquiries established that the driver was not insured to drive the vehicle, therefore it was seized under S165 Road Traffic Act.”

An image from the scene supplied by police shows a dark grey Volkswagen having been stopped.

This comes amid long running concerns about crime on the roads in Bolton and further afield across Greater Manchester in recent months including cases of car theft, dangerous driving, driving without licences and driving without insurance.

Police have also reported recent cases of drink driving and drug driving.

Officers have urged anyone with any concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour on the roads or otherwise in their communities to get in touch by calling 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can also call independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
