'Nightmare' temporary traffic lights for roadworks are causing rush hour delays on a major road into Bolton.

The roadworks are on Bradshawgate, running between its junctions with Princess Street and Silverwell Street, and have been put in place by Electricity North West for maintenance works.

Four traffic signals are in place, two on Bradshawgate, one on Silverwell Street and one on Nelson Square.

Road users are now finding that traffic is getting much worse, despite the works having been in place since October 9.

They are currently set to finish this Friday, October 27.

One resident said: "The temporary lights are a nightmare at the moment. Sometimes I can be sat in stationary traffic for 10-  to 15 minutes which has made me late for work on a number of occasions.

"I hope the work is completed soon, as the town centre is awful to get through at the moment, especially during the rush hour with queues stretching from Bradshawgate all the way to Folds Road."
