Bolton is in for an ‘unsettled weekend of weather’ as Storm Babet moves northwards.
A yellow weather warning for rain is currently in place until 6am tomorrow, October 21, across the borough as heavy rain is expected, with rain and wind forecast into next week.
Throughout today and early tomorrow during the warning period, Bolton could see ‘between 60 and 80 millimetres of rain’.
Stephen Dixon, a spokesperson for the Met Office said: “It is going to be an unsettled weekend of weather, especially in the first half of the weekend for Bolton and that is the weather associated with Storm Babet as it gradually moves northwards.
“Bolton will have already seen some of the impact from Babet as there is a yellow rain warning currently in force in the area and that remains in force until 6am tomorrow morning.

“Within that warning area which is a wide warning area in the north of England and parts of the Midlands as well as Wales, but places like Bolton could see between 60 and 80 millimetres of rain within that warning period.
“It seems like a chunk of that would have fallen overnight but further rain is expected through the day today and into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
“Important to note as well that although not covered by a wind warning, some breezy conditions are likely to be around in some spots but the fact that Bolton is off the immediate coastline it helps with the wind a little bit.”
Stephen also said Bolton is set for more autumnal rain and wind going into next week.
He said: “Unsettled weather is definitely the theme of the forecast for the next couple of days for Bolton.
“Although that rain warning expires in the early hours of Saturday, it is expected to be another widely rainy day for Bolton on Saturday with more typical autumnal rain albeit falling on some saturated ground could still hamper some travel plans for some.
“On Sunday, there is a free period of respite with less rain perhaps the odd shower earlier in the morning but a drier day in general.
“But the set up for next week shows there is more unsettled weather on the way and there is likely wind and rain again I am afraid.”
