A Bolton restaurant is proving a huge hit with families  - and it has the award to prove it.

Leo's Italian Restaurant in Horwich, received the highly recommended award at the UK Italian Awards.

It was recognised in the best family friendly restaurant category with two other restaurants (Carpenters Arms Italian Kitchen and Etzio Restaurant) at a glittering black tie awards ceremony.

The restaurant was also in the running for best pasta chef, and best restaurant in the North West.

Owner and manager Albi Nusgalliu said the accolade was “unexpected” but it was great to be recognised.

She said: “We have only been running it for a year.

The Bolton News:

“We have heard about the Italian Awards, and I did my research and decided to participate.

“We had great support from the local community, and I appreciate it.

“The team were delighted they always work hard and put a lot of effort in to make customers happy.

“Being chosen is really rewarding and it’s the first year we participated so it feels very good to be in this position.

“It’s our honour to share our success with the people who voted for us.

The Bolton News: Albi says that the event is well-known in the Italian community, and that since winning the award she has noticed that new people have been coming in to try their food.

She added: “It has been even better this year in terms of bookings.

“We have had so many bookings for Christmas, which makes us happy.

“It’s about sharing the experience with our customers, and it’s great to be busy after Covid.”

The restaurant recently underwent a makeover, which included changing its name from Rocco’s Italian Restaurant back to Leo’s.

Albi and her family took charge of the eatery in July last year after always dreaming of running a business.
