The children and parents know they are outstanding schools and now the rest of the North West does too.

For two Bolton schools have been shortlisted for the prestigious Educate Awards, which recognise the 'finest schools, colleges, teachers and support staff' across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cheshire.

St Peter's CE Primary School and Green Fold Special School in Farnworth have been nominated for categories at the Educate Awards.

Green Fold School has been shortlisted in the SEND Provision Award, Leadership Team of the Year and Most Inspirational Primary School in addition to School Support Star of the Year for Jeanette Horrocks, who is the school’s children and families team officer. 

Judges commended the school’s culture of collaborating with other professionals in SEND, focus on research-led approaches, and support system, alongside its high quality effective AAC (Alternative Augmentative Communication) for each child.

Jeanette, who is described as ‘a true superstar’, ‘generous’, and ‘the heart’ of Green Fold’s school community was nominated by colleagues.

St Peter's CE School has been nominated for the Most Inspirational Primary School category at the awards, as well as five other awards at two separate award shows.

At the Education Today awards, co-headteacher Lynn Williams has been nominated for the Community Champion and Headteacher of the Year categories, while the school has been shortlisted for Most Inspirational Primary School and Creative School of the Year categories.

St Peter's CE School has also been nominated for Primary School of the Year at the Manchester Education Awards.

Jenny Scott, co-headteacher at St Peter's CE Primary, said: "We are overjoyed and immensely proud at being nominated in these award categories.

"The children, staff, governors and community all play pivotal roles in making St Peter's the outstanding, inspirational school that it is.

"The long standing co-headteacher, Mrs Williams, thoroughly deserves the recognition of Headteacher of the Year and Community Champion.

"She has worked tirelessly for 17 years to take the school on a journey to outstanding and is an advocate for providing all the children in Bolton with the very best education.

"Our Art Department offers the children at St Peters the opportunity to Sparkle and Shine through many creative experiences.

"The learning environment around school is truly exemplary and showcases the amazing work produced by the children. The nominations are thoroughly deserved!"

The ceremony will take place at Liverpool Cathedral on November 17 this year.
