A popular tearoom in one of the most picturesque named the best cafe in Lancashire could be crowned the best in the country.
The Village Tea Room in Rivington is run by mum and daughter, Jayne and Jade Tolen.
The café is now in the running for the best in England, which will be announced next month at a ceremony in Birmingham.
Jade said: “I was looking at all the finalists, and we are all so different.
“You have the Hard Rock Café, and a boutique café in London, so it will be difficult to pick because they are all so good.
“But we are the only dog friendly establishment in the finals, and it’s exciting so we will be all heading to Birmingham for the finals.”
Customers will be able to scan a QR code to vote for The Village Tea Room as the best café in England.
Jade said: “Winning the best in Lancashire was enough, and even to be in the grand final is amazing.
“We do not even need to win because it already feels good to get this far.
“It’s gobsmacking that a little café in Rivington is in the country final.”
Since winning the title of the best café in Lancashire, the team have found themselves busier than ever.
Jade said: “People that have not been to the area before have been in the café now, so it is bringing in new people that did not know about things like the terraced gardens and pigeon tower.
“We have had some people come from Derbyshire to try us, who had lunch then went on a walk.
“But we are still the same café and it’s just nice to see everybody voted for us.”
Jade and Jayne along with nan, Elsie Kent, are looking forward to seeing the finals in Birmingham on November 19.
Jade said: “One thing that has stuck with me is that we have a customer from Liverpool who said he had been telling us for years we were the best in Lancashire and now he read it in the newspaper.
“So, everybody has been so happy for us.”
The tearoom was originally opened by the 85-year-old Mrs Kent in 1982 but was taken over by her daughter Jayne some 10 years later.
