A new wine bar has opened in Bolton's fast growing food and drink 'quarter'.
Porters has opened in Harwood, adding to growing number of places to socialise in.
Owners David and Sharon Naylor decided to open wine bar Porters when they were on a beach in Mexico.
The couple wanted to open a place for people of their generation.
Porters is only seven metres long and five metres wide and can seat around 35 people.
David said: “We were going to impose an over-25 rule but I don’t think we’ll need to because I don’t think it’s their scene.
“It’s just nice, and cosy and welcoming.”
The venue used to be a financial advice office and a building society.
David said: “We were passing one day and saw the to let board on the wall - and by the end of the day we had secured the lease.
“It was a blank canvas we had to work with.”
The couple spent over a year designing the space themselves.
David, who is a joiner by trade said: “We work well as a team. I make all the bits and she puts the frilly bits on it.”
The result of their work is a cosy wine bar with elements of blue and scorched wood.
Porters serve small plates as well as twelve wines from around the world.
David said: “They are not the wines you would pick up on a supermarket shelf.”
During the day, they also serve coffee and cake from 10 am.
The wine bar allows dogs on the decking.
Porters is located at 153 Lea Gate in Harwood.
As well as the new wine bar, David and Sharon also run the Grey Mare Inn on Tottington Road.
