Tackling loneliness in Bromley Cross with new initiative
The prize winning Talkin’ Tables initiative has arrived in Bromley Cross aimed at tackling loneliness and encouraging new friendships by bringing people
together for coffee and a chat.
The Rotary Club of Bolton Daybreak is supporting Marjorie Hayward in her latest venture at the Retreat Restaurant on Darwen Road.
Marjorie is the founder of Talkin’ Tables, who launched her first Talkin’ Table in Chorley in July 2021.
Since then Tables have become established at nearly 70 venues ranging from Carlisle in the north, Dudley in the south, Stockport in the east and Tarleton in the west.
Marjorie said: “Loneliness has been a hazard for many people long before the Covid pandemic, but the lockdowns heightened the problem and social
isolation became new mental and physical health issues.”
The Bromley Cross Talkin’ Table will meet each Thursday morning at 11am at the Retreat Restaurant, Darwen Road.
People can just turn up.
Talkin’ Tables won the Community Group Award in BBC Radio Lancashire’s “Make a Difference Awards” 2023.
