CCTV footage has captured the moment a police van was involved in a crash on a notorious junction.
The latest accident has sparked fresh calls to make the junction in Great Lever safer.
The footage captures the moment a police van travelling to a 'call out' on Lever Street onto the junction when it is involved in a collision with a Fiat travelling down Fletcher Street.
The incident occurred at around 8pm yesterday evening, Wednesday, outside the Queen Elizabeth pub.
Police, ambulance, and two crews from Bolton Central fire station were in attendance at the scene.
North-West Ambulance service confirmed that one person was taken to hospital.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed the incident had involved a police van which was responding to another incident at the time of the crash.
They said no serious injuries had been reported.
One eyewitness, Paul, 56, was inside the Queen Elizabeth Pub at the time of the incident and said the road was closed until about 11pm.
He said: “The crash last night involved a police van going across the junction."
He called for Bolton Council to consider installing traffic lights at the junction after his son was involved in a crash at the same location in August this year - and a number of other crashes at the junction.
He said his son was driving down Fletcher Street when a car came down Lever Street where the crash happened.
Paul said: “He had his two nieces and his pregnant stepsister in the car with him. His car was a write off.”
“There needs be traffic lights at the junction.”
He called on the council to install traffic lights on the road and said Greater Manchester should take responsibility for causing the accident.
The junction at Fletcher Street and Lever Street has been subject to on-going calls for better safety measures after a number of crashes in the area.
The pub’s landlady, Angela Wright, said there were “always crashes” there and said traffic lights needed to be installed.
In August 2020, a woman in her 50s was taken to hospital as a precaution following another two-car crash at the same junction.
