A woman has appeared in court accused of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop after a pedestrian suffered skull fractures.
The collision happened on Hulme Road in Bolton on January 13 this year and the pedestrian is still receiving medical treatment following the incident.
Linda McWilliams, 63, appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court accused of causing serious injury to a man through careless driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to report a road accident after being involved.
McWilliams, of Pemberton Street, Little Hulton, did not enter any pleas to the allegations at the hearing on Tuesday.
Peter Williams, prosecuting, said the case should be sent to the crown court.
He said: “This court we submit is not suitable.
“Serious injury was sustained as a result of the road traffic collision.
“The man sustained four factures to his skull.
“There is ongoing medical treatment.
“The starting point is 12 months in custody for the careless driving alone.
“The crown say it is it outside your sentencing powers.”
Samantha Cole, defending, agreed with this.
She added: “I accept it is not within the powers of this court.”
Chair of the bench Kathleen Butterworth said: “The bench decline jurisdiction.
McWilliams was told the case would next be called at Bolton Crown Court on November 6.
She was given unconditional bail pending her appearance next month.
