Tributes have been paid to a man who tragically died after a medical incident in a park.

Lee Harris died on Wednesday after being taken ill at  Heywood Park in Great Lever on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called just after 7am to the park.

On Thursday his friends gathered in the park  to remember him.

Lee lived in Great Lever and previously worked as a screeder, which his friends say he was “very good at”.

One of his best friends who lived in the area said he was “shocked” when he heard the news of the tragedy and says although Lee faced challenges in his life they had some “good times together”.

“He just lost his way.

“I’m just really shocked by everything.

“He did have a good job as a screeder and he trained people.”

Many friends and family took to social media to also pay tribute to a ‘helpful’ man who.

One person that he used to help at Morrisons with the trolleys.

Another said: “Rest in peace mate.

“Lots of love.

“I will treasure the memories the best times.”

One person added: “Such sad news.

“Always had so much respect for him.

“Rest in peace Lee.”

Others described him as a “lovely guy” who “always had manners”, and who was “polite”, and seemed like a “nice guy”.

People also sent their condolences to his family, saying they hope he is “at peace”.

Someone else said: “Such sad news.

“I always had so much respect for him.

“RIP Lee.”

Cllr Richard Silvester said: “I pass on my condolences to the family and friends of the man who died on Wednesday morning.”

Police say enquiries have been conducted and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A file is now being prepared for the coroner.
