Harwood is fast estabishing itself as a food and drink destination.
And now two businesses have partnered up to serve both food and drink with the launch of the new service being hailed a huge success this week.
The new venture served as a homecoming for three local cousins, who first launched their hugely successful Cugini business in Harwood over lockdown.
The Bolton News reported earlier this month how The Nook and Cranny has teamed up with the trio and a special launch party was being held where 100 pizzas were being given away for £1.
Connor Close, 29, along with 21-year-old Dino Clark, and 27-year-old Callum Tombs, parked the famous Cugini Pizza van outside the Nook & Cranny pub to serve their customers Italian pizza made from the family-built pizza oven.
Usually, the Cugini boys can be found serving up their pizzas at the Edgworth Cricket Club, but now the cousins will be in two locations as they expand their business.
As well as being home, the location was chosen because of the footfall in the area thanks to different places to socialise over food and drink.
Connor said: “It went great, we sold out of 100 of £1 pizzas by 5:30pm and did a further 50 pizzas.
“Everyone enjoyed their pizzas, and the feedback was 10/10.
“Hopefully working with the Nook & Cranny will give us the opportunity to engage with a wider customer base during the autumn and winter months.
“It’s the perfect place to meet up for a drink and a pizza and we are really looking forward to working together.”
The Nook & Cranny was heaving with hungry customers at just 4pm, with queues of people waiting to get inside.
Connor said: “The great thing about The Nook is that it’s the perfect space for casual dining and pizza is the perfect for that.
“It’s always great seeing people enjoy our pizza and we love Harwood.
“It’s where we were brought up and as you know we started serving pizza in the back garden on Longsight. So, I’m sure we’ll settle straight back in.
"People can sit in and eat pizza at the cricket club, it’s just not really designed for indoor dining. It's more of a summer vibe.
"There are always people at the Nook & Cranny so we are happy to be there where we can serve our pizza. "
Cugini first started in their aunt’s back garden in Longsight.
Since then, Cugini have been a permanent summer fixture at the Edgworth Cricket Club.
Owner of Nook & Cranny, Craig Egan, said he loved the pizzas himself.
He said: It’s a homecoming for them and they obviously like what they do.
“It’s great for them to be back where they grew up and the pizza is the best I have ever had.
“I know the boys and have tried the pizzas the cricket club and they’re just amazing, so we could not be more excited to have them here.”
Cugini will open at the pub from Wednesdays to Sundays from 4pm.
