Patients and visitors attending the Royal Bolton Hospital are being advised about keeping personal belongings safe during their visit.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust said when preparing for a visit to hospital, to avoid bringing any valuables such as jewellery or large amounts of money.
If patients do bring valuables, they will be advised to hand them to staff for safekeeping, where they will be handed a receipt, or to leave them with a friend or relative to take home.

Nicola Caffrey, Corporate Business Manager at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We know how much sentimental value jewellery can hold for some patients, and we want to make sure their belongings are well-looked after by either being left at home or safely looked after by staff.
“It’s really important that patients follow our advice as we are unable to accept responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property that isn’t handed to our staff for safe keeping.
“When a patient is admitted our staff are on hand to discuss with them and their families about the best way of looking after their belongings to make patients feel safe and comfortable during their visit.”
