A power cut has hit more than 800 homes this evening, with residents reporting their houses going dark.
The power cut is believed to have occurred around the Ainsworth Village area, just between Bury and Bolton and to the north of Little Lever.
Households reported going dark at just before 7.40pm on the evening of Wednesday September 27.
A residents said: “The whole street is filled in darkness, we’ve all lit our candles.
“I hope it is back soon, its very atmospheric if not a bit cold!”
She added: “I think its probably the winds picking up as Storm Agnes hits.”
Images from the scene in Ainsworth Village show a street with all of the houses having been plunged into darkness not long after the sun has gone down for the evening.
According to Electricity North West, the power cut has hit a total of 887 households in the Bury West area.
A statement said: “This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident on the high voltage cable that provides electricity to your home or business.
“We didn't know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible.”
Power is expected to be restored by just before 10.30pm this evening.
