Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to a supermarket this afternoon after reports of a crash involving an elderly man and a car.
The crash happened at around 1.30pm on the afternoon of Wednesday September 27 in the car park of a branch of Asda on St Helens Road in the Daubhill area.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene and part of the way into Asda was closed as they went about their work.
An Asda spokesperson said: “At around 1.30pm this afternoon there was a road traffic collision and emergency services were called.”
The Asda store is found on the corner of St Helens Road and Deane Church Lane in Daubhill to the south west of the town.
Eyewitnesses report seeing a “massive” police presence at the store, but the Asda spokesperson confirmed that the store remained open from one of the entrances while the emergency services were on scene.
An air ambulance was reportedly seen nearby but does not appear to have landed in the car park.
Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment, but the Serious Collision Investigation Unit does not appear to have been involved.
As yet the man involved in the collision’s condition is not believed to be life threatening.
