Bolton firefighters made a splash in the fire services annual swimming championships.

Three swimmers from Bolton North Fire Station travelled to Newcastle to take part in the annual Fire Service Swimming Championships.

They were Holly McKenzie and Jack Barker, both from Blue Watch, and Peter Wilmot from Red Watch.

The fire service used the event to highlight the many social opportunities available for those who join.

Holly got a gold medal for the 50m breaststroke, the silver medal for the 50m freestyle, and two gold medals for the mixed master relays.

Jack got the gold medal for the 50m backstroke, the silver medal for the 50m breaststroke, the bronze medal for the 50m freestyle, as well as two gold medals for the mixed master relay, and two gold medals for the men’s master’s relay.

Peter won five Individual gold medals: two gold medals for the mixed masters relay, and two gold medals for the men’s masters relay, as well as winning the overall top master’s swimmer.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:

“We're having quite the sporty time of it.

“Didn't they do well?

“Well done Team GMFRS.

“We've lots of social opportunities for you to get involved in when you join our team.
