A suspected fight broke out at a petrol station on a major Bolton road this afternoon, with police called to the scene.
The Shell Garage on Chorley Old Road was taped off for much of the afternoon and into the evening of Monday September 25 as police dealt with the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing at least one man taken away in handcuffs and police later confirmed that two men had been arrested.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 4.10pm today, September 25 2023, officers responded to reports of a fight at a business in Chorley Old Road, Bolton.
“Two people were subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
As off around 5.15pm that same evening, the cordon remained in place across the entrances and exits on Chorley Old Road and Grafton Street, with both uniformed police and what appeared to be plainclothes detectives on the scene gathering evidence.
The entire garage, which also contains a Londis and Subway outlet, was taped off with several cars and members of staff at the stores still inside as police went about their work.

Passing members of the public did not seem to know what had happened, though one woman speculated that a robbery may have taken place.
But the only incident referred to by police is the suspected assault.
