A website is now live for people to buy tickets for the bee network buses launching in Bolton.
The Bee Network buses officially launch in Bolton next week with a new website and app now ready for people in the town to plan journeys and buy tickets.
The app can be downloaded from the Google or Apple stores.
In statement Bolton Council said: “A new website is live and a new app allows you to buy tickets, see live departure times and rate your journey.
“Available on the Google and Apple stores. You'll still get the new, lower fares that launched recently, but you'll also see a lot more of the new and refurbished yellow buses, including all-new electric buses. Say yellow to better buses.”
This is the first time in 40 years that buses will be back under local authority control in Bolton, Bury, Manchester and Salford.
The Bee Network promises more buses running, 50 zero emission electric buses, earlier and later buses to link up with first and last trams and trains, more travel safe officers, and more flexible and affordable tickets to be made available to the public.
People can also access the new bus timetables here.
A spokesman said: “For the first time in 40 years, bus services will be under local control in Bolton, Wigan, and parts of Bury, Salford and Manchester.
“We’re making improvements to some bus services in these areas straight away. And there’s more to ‘say yellow’ to wherever you catch the bus, train or tram.”
The services, run by Go North West, will begin on the morning of Sunday September 24, with more than 1,000 workers ready to run 320 buses across 50 lines around Bolton and Wigan.
The Bee Network buses will replace Manchester’s six existing bus brands over the next 18 months, providing what Transport for Greater Manchester calls a joined-up network for passengers.
All the buses on the network will be equipped with passenger information screens and space for two wheelchairs, plus CCTV and two-way radios for security.
