An event for lovers of fantasy and science fiction will return to Bolton this weekend.

The Big Glasgow Comic Page Comic Con had operated in Scotland for a number of years.

But its organisers decided to spread their wings and made their debut in England earlier this year in the Market Place Shopping Centre.

The event proved a success as lengths queues of children formed of youngsters desperate to get a picture with people dressed up as Bumblebee from Transformers and Optimus Prime.

The shopping centre was full of characters from galaxies far away including stormtroopers and jedi knights.

The Bolton News:

There was also an appearance from Marvel’s antihero Deadpool.

Comics, toys and art was also on sale throughout the day.

And following the success of the event the organisers will return to the same spot this weekend.

The event will run from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

People are urged to order tickets in order to avoid large queues on the day.

Ian Bonar, the organiser, was the one who dressed up as Bumblebee during the early trip to the Market Place Shopping Centre.

He said at the time the first tip had been a success.

He said: “It is the first event we have had down south.

“It has been really good.

“We had 20,000 come to us in Gretna last week but this is a much bigger shopping centre.

“We did not know how popular it would be.”
