The former owner of a salon who took rubbish from the business to burn at his home was fined thousands by magistrates.
Saidi Masood, the former owner of Golden Glow, Halliwell Road, appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on August 16.
In an inspection last year a Bolton Council enforcement officer attended the salon and asked him for evidence of the disposal of business waste.
Initially, Masood denied the disposal of business waste but, eventually, Masood admitted he took rubbish from the business to burn at his home.
The Bolton Council enforcement officer issued a fine on the spot but he refused to pay and, at the start of this year, he resigned from his position.
Instead, he was charged with a breach of the Waste Regulations for which he was found guilty.

Masood appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on August 16 where he was fined £3,000 and ordered to cover costs to a total of £3,240. Separately, Golden Glow was fined £2,000 and ordered to cover costs to a total of £800.
Sue Haworth, the council's cabinet member for regulatory services said: "Every company, however large or small, must provide details of how they lawfully store and discard their waste. I hope these substantial fines serve as a warning to businesses that they must ensure all waste is disposed of lawfully and have the relevant papers to prove this.
"We will always act to deal with those causing risk with hazardous waste in this borough."
Bolton Council said business waste must be disposed of at a SUEZ waste transfer station. It said hazardous waste, such as sunbed tubes, must be accompanied by documentation or disposed of by a specialist waste collection company.
