The community of Bolton is joining together in a bid to get a Bolton mum life-saving treatment and to bring her home after she suffered a heart attack during her dream holiday in Jamaica.
Deborah Willcock, 62, from Harwood, went on a family holiday to Montego Bay with her husband Mike, daughter Ashley, son Aaron, and her five grandchildren last Wednesday (August 23).
She suffered a heart-attack on the Thursday and remains in hospital.
And now family friend Tammy Allred from Tonge Moor along with Kirsty Acton have organised a fundraising day at the Mosley Arms pub in Breightmet.
Tammy said: “We want to get her back here safely, and we want to raise as much money as possible.
“A lot of people have got involved and want to help out, and they have been so kind and generous.
“We can’t thank everyone enough.”
Tammy says that she was both 'shocked' and 'devastated' when she found out what had happened and wants to do all she can to help.
She said: “It would mean the world to me because the family have helped me and my children a lot, and they are so kind and would give their last penny to help anyone at the drop of a hat.
“Everyone should come along and enjoy the day so we can make it special and help as much as they can.
“I think it’s really sad because they went away to have a family holiday, and they have worked so hard for it.
“We were very shocked and never thought for a minute anything would happen.”
The fundraising day will take place on September 10 from 12.30pm-5.30pm, and will include a tombola, facepainting, a bouncy castle, and more.
Sophie Rhone – who is also a family friend – said: “It’s so nice to see the community come together, and it just shows how loved she is.”
The family have already raised £24,183 and are trying to reach their target of £60k so that Deborah can undergo an emergency heart operation Kingston.
