The Great British Bake Off has announced a major change for the 2023 series after viewers criticised the show in recent years.
The Channel 4 programme is expected to start in a matter of weeks, with This Morning’s Alison Hammond becoming a new presenter, taking over from Matt Lucas who has co-hosted with comedian Noel Fielding since 2020.
Fans now eagerly await the new line-up of bakers who will be judged for their pastries, soggy bottoms and famous melted showpieces by Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith.
However, those heading into the famous white tent will not be taking part in this usual addition to The Great British Bake Off.
Heaven is a bake on Earth.

The Great British Bake Off makes major change for 2023 bakers
In the past series, the show was critiqued for “too much cooking and not enough baking.”
Speaking to The Guardian, executive producer Kieran Smith admitted: “I hold my hands up to the cooking complaint and the theme weeks.
“We didn’t want to offend anyone but the world has changed and the joke fell flat.”
He went on to reveal: “We’re not doing any national themes this year.”
Love Productions who are in charge of creating the magic of Bake Off have “listened to feedback.”
Sam Ryder is said to have ‘amicably split from his record label’
Kieran went on to say: “We’re going very traditional.
“We’re doing all the regular weeks: Cakes, Biscuits, Bread, Patisserie, Chocolate, plus Party Cakes is a new theme.
“No spoilers, but it features challenges I think viewers will love.”
Paul added: “We chose this year’s challenges very carefully to be approachable.
“In a way, we’ve returned to the philosophy of the first three series.
“There are some beautiful classic ones and they’ve been a big success.”
When does The Great British Bake Off start in 2023?
Channel 4 is yet to release the exact date for the start of the 2023 series but the Bake Off account recently posted an exciting update to fans on Instagram.
Alison, Noel, Prue and Paul could be seen standing together outside the Bake Off tent in a picture.
The caption reads: “New series. New bakers. New host.
“Join Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison in the Tent of Dreams as The Great British Bake Off returns to our screens. Coming soon to @Channel4. #GBBO”
Alison told The Guardian: “It’s lovely to see the bakers develop but it does get emotional.”
“You have to remember that no matter how good they are, they’re amateurs.
“They practise like mad all week at home – getting their kids to bed, then baking until 2am. Do a bad bake in the tent and it’s no wonder it wobbles them.”
