A man in the construction industry in Bolton has lost his licence due to driving under the influence of cocaine.

Ronaldo Gora was stopped by police while behind the wheel of a BMW.

Bolton Magistrates Court heard he was found to have traces of the Class A drug in his system.

Tineka O’Mara, prosecuting, said: “Officers were on a routine patrol on December 22 last year on Moor Lane.

“They stopped the BMW on Moor Lane due to its demeanour.

“Officers requested a drug swab that was positive.”

At court Cora, from Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving with the drug in his system.

Martin Pizzey, defending, said: “The defendant’s driving was not of great concern to the police.

“He cooperated with the police.

“He is a person of previous good character.

“He had been at a friend’s birthday party.

“He had left many many hours before getting behind the wheel of a car.

“He thought he would be fine.

“It was a mistake.

“He is a self employed construction worker.

“He does anything from brick work to moving tools and materials.

“He is now going to struggle quite significantly.

“It was something of a shock to him to learn this.

“He is originally from Albania, he has been here for four years.

“He is a resourceful member of society.

“He left it for many hours but not enough.”

Chair of the bench Mark Hardman said: “I feel some sympathy for you.

“You did leave yourself time.

“However the law is the law.”

He fined him £134 and ordered him to pay further costs of £139.

He was told he could pay this off at a rate of £50 per month.

The 25-year-old was also banned him from the roads for a year.
