Officials are warning people to remain vigilant over fake McAfee emails saying anti-virus subscriptions are expiring.
Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime, received more than 300 reports relating to fake emails purporting to be from McAfee.
The emails urge the recipient to use the provided link and renew their subscription.
The links in the emails lead to phishing websites that are designed to steal personal and financial information.

A spokesperson for Action Fraud said: “If you have any doubts about a message, contact the organisation directly.
“Don’t use the numbers or address in the message – use the details from their official source.
“Your bank or any other official source will never ask you to supply personal information via email.”
