Plans to convert a former takeaway into a family home has been given the go-ahead.
The terraced building on Queensgate, Heaton had previously been used as an outlet for Chic Chic Chicken and Queensgate Chippy but will now be transformed into a house with three bedrooms.
Work will now get underway to take the shop front off and install a window matching the rest of the street.
RA Design & Project Management Ltd drew up the plans.
A Bolton Council report said: "The proposed would change the façade of the front elevation from that of a standard hot food takeaway including a signage board and roller shutters to a front door and front window similarly sized to other residential properties within the area.”
It added: “The removal of the signage is not considered to impact the area due to the area being predominantly residential and these features not being abundant.
“The re-siting of the door to the rear would not be visible from the street scene and so would have no impact on the area.”
No objections or representations from people living in the nearby area were received about the plan while it was open for neighbourhood consultations.
But a supporting statement was sent by Cllr Richard Silvester, who represents the Queens Park and Central area.
Developers have previously argued that the site is well suited to a new home, being close to transport links, a supermarket and public services, including pharmacies, GP surgeries and schools.
They also pointed out the ongoing need for new housing across Bolton, which they hope this will go some way to addressing.

Bolton Council’s report said: “The proposed would also have adequate storage in the rear garden for storage of bins.
“Adequate amenity space for this property type and size is retained.
“In terms of environmental health, it is considered that the use as a residential dwelling rather than a hot food takeaway will have less of an impact on neighbours and so this is considered acceptable.”
The proposal was put before Bolton Council earlier this year on Friday July 31.
The authority announced that it had approved the plan on Friday August 18.
