Bolton-born Clive Myrie is returning as the host of the BBC’s flagship quiz show.
The BBC Two show is back from tonight (Monday) for another series that will see 96 contenders compete for the Mastermind Champion title.
Clive, who replaced John Humphrys at the helm of the long-running BBC quiz show in 2021, will be quizzing participants on their chosen specialist subject, before challenging them with a round of tough general knowledge questions.
Participants who make it through the heats and the semi-finals will then face each other in the grand final and battle to win the title of Mastermind Champion and the Mastermind Glass Bowl.
In this series the subjects the contenders will be tested on range from Mary Queen of Scots, Otters, and Harry Styles to René Magritte, Ted Lasso, and The History of Cattle.
In an interview with The Bolton News back in 2021 Clive spoke of his excitement at taking over as the host of the show.
He said: “To be the presenter isn’t just an honour but a pleasure too and I’ve got huge shoes to fill after John Humphrys.
“I grew up in Bolton watching it with Magnus Magnusson. It’s such a staple of British television and part of our cultural furniture in this country.
“It’s daunting, yet very exciting at the same time.”
Tonight’s show is airing at 7.30pm on BBC Two and the full series will be available on iPlayer.
