The Academy, one of 12 secondary academies sponsored by Northern Education Trust, has also secured a significant number of strong passes (grade 5) in English and maths.

An total of 50 per cent of students overall achieved a pass in English and maths, demonstrating a continuation of strong results since 2019.

Oliver Smith gained strong grades in all of his nine subjects including a distinction level 2 in sport and fitness. 

He has signed a professional contract with Bolton Wanderers and will continue to pursue his dream as a professional footballer.

Kiera Markland gained seven to nine in all nine subjects, including two grade nines in English. 

Kiera who gained a grade eight in art, had her artwork recently showcased in the NET Art Gallery and published as exemplar work.

She will now study English language and English literature, hoping to progress to being a writer.

Azeem Otusanya gained strong grades in all of his nine subjects, including a grade nine in English, seven in maths and eights in all three sciences. 

Azeem was student president when in Year 9 and his leadership has contributed brilliantly towards the academy community and the student voice. 

He will be studying A levels in physics, chemistry and maths. 

Andrew Newton, principal of Kearsley Academy thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying: “This is an excellent set of results for Kearsley Academy. 

“The students have worked extremely hard to achieve at these levels, with some students having overcome difficult barriers to do so. 

“I’d like to thank the staff for their continued passion for ensuring our students succeed – these results are testament to their energy and enthusiasm for helping our students achieve the very best from their education.”
