A Westhoughton fun day was attended by hundreds of families from across the borough.

The event was held in Westhoughton’s Central Park.

The day of free activities was paid for by Westhoughton Town Council, which has committed to providing play and youth provision for the community.

Play and Youth Bolton ran the day, the group is also running weekly activities throughout the summer in Westhoughton, thanks to the town council’s funding.

Activities included family lawn games, a state-of-the-art mobile skate park, UV disco, inspirational cooking sessions, bike sessions and stalls.

Town councillors Alison Jackson, Linda Maher and Arthur Price, along with the Town Mayor’s consort Ollie Younge, attended the event to show their support.

Cllr Jackson said: “It was great to see a few hundred children and their families at the event.

"It’s been a huge success and as councillors we were all really pleased to come along to see how the council’s money is being invested.

“We are going to be looking at further events for young people for the rest of the council year and a bigger programme of events for next summer.

"We’d love to hear people’s suggestions of what they’d like to see.”
