Neighbourhood police located a wanted man and arrested another on suspicion of threats to kill while out on patrol in Bolton recently.

Officers were in the town centre on Monday evening as part of regular patrols.

During their shift police responded to reports a woman was being harassed in the centre of Bolton.

Using CCTV evidence, they arrestsed a man on suspicion of threats to kill and assault.

Shortly after this this a man believed to be wanted was spotted in Farnworth.

Officers responded and arrested him on suspicion of breaching a court order.

Police released details of the two incidents to reassure people they are out and about and responding to incidents as well as being proactive.

These included checking with vulnerable residents to ensure they had the care and support they required, stopping suspicous vehicles and individuals known to engage in crime and speaking to people to build up intelligence pictures.

Sergeant David Keir, from GMP’s Bolton district, said: “Our neighbourhood officers are there to serve the Bolton community and they will do whatever they can, whenever they can, to achieve that purpose.

“Neighbourhood officers deal with all manner of topics and in Bolton, they are keen to crack down on the issues that matter most to you. In just a couple of hours, we can deal with anything under the sun. And that is exactly what we are there for. We want to keep the community as safe as possible and that could be through any manner of policing. Whether it’s a simple chat or getting out and arresting wanted people, we are determined to crack down on criminality.

“If you ever see us out and about, and have any queries or concerns, please do get in touch with us. Whether by pulling us for a chat or attending a PACT meeting, we are always keen on hearing from you.”

GMP announced earlier this year it was making big changes with 300 new police community support officers being brought in.
