One lane was closed for a short time after a cyclist was spotted on the M60 motorway between Bolton and Bury.
The cyclist was spotted between the junctions of Clifton Interchange and Whitefield Interchange on August 15.
A traffic officer from National Highways accompanied the man off the M60 motorway as soon as possible. One lane was closed for a short time for his safety.
It is understood the traffic officer advised the man about the Highway Code which bans walkers and some vehicles, including bicycles, from the motorway.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Safety remains our priority at National Highways and we would like to remind people to familiarise themselves with the law to ensure they keep themselves safe."
