Police patrols were in place across two areas to the west of Bolton this weekend after reports of “anti-social behaviour".

Officers were patrolling across the Horwich and Westhoughton areas over the course of Saturday.

This came after reports about several specific incidents, while officers also said that they intended to visit specific locations.

Speaking on Saturday evening, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This afternoon (Saturday) officers from Bolton west will be patrolling Horwich and Westhoughton and responding to incidents of antisocial behaviour.

“We have a number of locations identified that we will be visiting throughout the evening as well as responding to incidents.”

Saturday saw outbreaks of violence after Bolton Wanderers’ game against Wigan Athletic, but the police statement has not confirmed is this is linked.

This comes following a range of concerns about anti-social behaviour not just in the two area police were patrolling over the course of Saturday but all around Bolton and further afield across the Greater Manchester area.
