A young girl is said to have been injured while riding a bike in a "nasty incident" last night, Friday.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the area around Manchester Road in Blackrod taped off at around 7.30pm.
This morning, nearby Blackrod Church School posted a statement on social media sending support to the girl and her loved ones, as well as thanking the health workers who came to her aid.
The statement said: “Sending all our love and prayers to a young lady who was involved in a nasty accident yesterday (Friday) while out riding her bike.
“We send strength and hope to her family, we send our gratitude and thanks to all the NHS staff looking after her and we send love to all our family community.
“Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, we have been in contact with the family and we know they appreciate everyone’s support so much.”
Eyewitnesses passing along the road at the time on Friday evening report seeing an emergency vehicle at the scene and traffic cones and a stop sign having been put up on Manchester Road.
Greater Manchester Police has been approached for comment.
