Dramatic pictures taken by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue's drone unit reveal the aftermath of a devastating fire at a school as firefighters are praised for their efforts in tackling the blaze.
Fire crews have been at SS Simon and Jude's CE Primary in Great Lever since 8.30am this morning are are expected to remain at the scene overnight dampening down.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and is subject to an investigation.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "GMFRS crews have worked tirelessly throughout the day to extinguish a major fire at a primary school in Bolton.

17 Fire engines mobilised to school fire
"At the height of the response, 17 fire engines from across Greater Manchester were attendance.
"The fire was brought under control by late afternoon.
"Crews will be at the scene damping down any remaining hot spots."
The fire is thought to have started in the roof space.
Earlier today Gillian Keegan, Education Secretary, tweeted: "I’m very relieved that nobody has been reported injured in this awful incident, but I understand that the fire will be devastating for the school & local community@educationgovuk is in contact to offer support & I’m grateful to the emergency services who responded very quickly"
Senior leaders at the school also praised the efforts of the firefighters at the scene.
