Police have issued advice to residents across the borough after they received reports of an attempted burglary.
Bolton West Police officers have issued advice on the best ways to protect homes after they received a report of an attempted burglary around the Molyneux Road area of Westhoughton.
The offender attempted to snap the lock at the address but was unsuccessful.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Please be extra vigilant and report anything suspicious.”
They also shared the top tips people can take to protect their homes.
Police said: “Look to upgrade euro cylinder locks on your external doors to an anti-snap cylinder with a three-star rating under TS 007 and or the Sold Secure Diamond Standard.

“Consider improving your door handles and by replacing them with a two-star rating under TS 007. These locks can also protect against blow torch burglaries.
“Use a reputable lock replacement company, preferably with Master Locksmiths Association accreditation. Visit www.locksmiths.co.uk for more information.
“You may also be able to fit sash jammers to your doors, which can help to prevent burglaries.
“Check it won’t invalidate any warranty on an existing door.
“Consider fitting additional locks to patio and French doors to increase security.”
