It’s no secret that Bolton is home to some of the best businesses, beauty spots and areas – and some of the UK’s most famous faces can be spotted at these locations.
From the much-loved Rivington Pike to popular takeaway spots, we have rounded up the Bolton locations loved by celebrities – you could even spot them there yourself if you visit:
Rivington Pike and the various cafes nearby
Rivington is very popular among locals, but it is also very popular with celebrities.
Bolton’s Paddy McGuinness has been spotted a number of times at the beauty spot, most recently taking a bike ride in November last year.
On his Instagram account, the Top Gear presenter posted a video of him mountain biking around the popular walking and biking area in Chorley.
He was spotted near Pigeon Tower, Oriental Gardens and The Bridge Hotel.
Paddy used to work at Horwich Leisure Centre and he and his mates posed for pictures outside their old place of work on the bike ride too.
Steven Gerrard has also been spotted up Rivington with friends just weeks after Paddy was spotted.
The football legend shared the breathtaking views with his 10 million-plus followers, showcasing the wonderful borough of Bolton on social media.
The former Liverpool and England player was joined by Tom Culshaw and Martin Littlewood.
He posted a picture on Instagram, from top of the Pike.
Rivington is much-loved by stars, with Bolton-born BBC radio presenter Mark Radcliffe, patron of Rivington Heritage Society, having spent much of his youth in the beauty spot.
Le Mans Crescent
Bolton is home to some beautiful places that are often used for filming locations, this includes Le Mans Crescent.
The town centre has seen the likes of A-list celebrity Ewan McGregor and Cillian Murphy walking on its cobbles, as well as Coronation Street stars as they flock to the borough to grab the perfect film shot.
Ewan McGregor was also spotted at the Victoria Hall.
Celebrities have also been spotted filming for TV shows including Top Gear which saw the likes of Freddie Flintoff, Chris Harris and Paddy McGuinness travel across Bolton.
Amico Café
This little café in Bolton has been the spot where TV stars have filmed for Happy Valley.
The town centre cafe has always been a hit with customers and now its national showcase is attracting even more custom.
The café was the setting for a confrontation between main character Sgt Catherine Cawood, played by Sarah Lancashire, and her sister, Clare played by Siobhan Finneran.
The Royal Balti House
Many celebrities have been spotted at the Royal Balti House, a restaurant and takeaway based in Farnworth.
The eatery has seen the likes of Paddy McGuinness, Ainsley Harriott and the late Nat Lofthouse OBE eat their food and the eatery has even featured on This Morning twice since 2022.
Ciaran Griffiths who played Mickey in Shameless has also tried the food, praising it stating, “Top food, I will be back!”
The restaurant and takeaway has seen many celebrities over the years come in through their doors.
Bolton Food and Drink Festival
Whilst this isn’t on all year round, the festival is a celebrity hotspot with the likes of James Martin, Michael Caines, Great British Menu judge Nisha Katona MBE, and other celebrities flocking to the town to share their culinary skills.
This year, the food festival from August 25 to 28, will also see Gok Wan come to the town centre.
He will take a spin in the main demo kitchen with some tasty Chinese cookery demos and then take to the decks in an all-new DJ set on the popular main stage.
Carrs Pasties
Carrs Pasties are adored by residents across the borough – but they are also loved by celebrities.
Over the years, the mouth-watering pasties have been enjoyed by celebrities including Peter Kay, Sara Cox, Chris Evans, Sir Clive Woodward and Arsenal and England legend Ian Wright.
Ye Old Pastie Shoppe
The Bolton bakery is one of the best in the borough and is also much loved by celebrities.
Last year, Gary Neville and Amir Khan went to the pasty shop and Gary even complimented the pasty saying: "The best!"
Bolton is home to many successful celebrities who have been spotted across the borough on a number of occasions, including Peter Kay, Vernon Kay and Paddy McGuinness – but it also has many great spots that see celebrities from across the country flock to the town.
