A Bolton salon owner is hoping to ‘spread colourful love’ across the borough by bringing specialist workshops to the town.
Francesca Wood, 33, from Lostock, has recently won the Best Colour Salon in the North West award and the win has sparked a new confidence in her which she wants to put into a new initiative.
The independent salon, Copper & Wild, located at 6 St Clare Terrace, Lostock, has been open for just over three years and Francesca said she did not think she had any chance of winning the award so did not attend the ceremony and did not even watch it online.
She said: “I was shocked when I found out I had won, I was baffled to be honest, I really did not expect to win it, but I am absolutely over the moon.
“I was chuffed to bits with it, and it has driven me to enter more awards and I am setting up to start running my own workshops and things because it has given me the confidence boost.
“I will be teaching vivid colouring at beginner level and then advanced.
“I have only been open here for just over three years and I opened seven weeks before the pandemic hit which wasn’t ideal, but we survived.
“I found out about the award in April, the awards evening was back then, and I didn’t actually attend it because I was going on my honeymoon the next day and I didn’t even watch it online because I didn’t think I stood a chance at even ranking in the top three.
“So, when I got the message to say I had won, I was speechless really, I couldn’t believe it.
“I am just happy to achieve recognition really because I have worked really hard and I don’t think I ever gave myself enough recognition, I’m very critical of myself so for other people to think I am good enough to win an award it’s just amazing.

“Hopefully I will be able to win more in the future.
“My next venture is my workshops; it has given me a boost that if I’m good enough to win an award then hopefully I’m good enough to teach and spread the colourful love.”
