Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to recruit firefighters this August

The service is recruiting for full time apprentice firefighters until August 16

Successful applicants will start their training course in February 2024.

Caroline Harrison, Group Manager and firefighter recruitment lead, said “We’re excited to recruit for wholetime firefighters this August. There’s no career quite like that of a firefighter – and while you may think 'I couldn’t do that’, you’ll be surprised at just how many transferable skills you could bring to the role.”

“All of our firefighters bring something different to the table and this emphasises why we encourage applications from a wide range of people from different backgrounds and experiences, so we can better represent the communities we serve”.

Caroline added, “We are looking for people who can use their initiative and problem solve, are compassionate, individuals who can keep calm under pressure, enjoy working as part of a team, effective communicators, and most of all, those who genuinely want to make a difference to their communities, and be there in their time of need.”

The service ia actively encouraging applications from women, members of Lancashire’s minority ethnic communities and the LGBTQ+ community.

The fire service says that these groups are under-represented in the organisation, and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service want to reflect the diversity of its communities in the workforce, to deliver the best service possible to the people of Lancashire.
