A Bolton man took a woman with learning difficulties back to her home from a pub and attempted to rape her.
Brandon Astley was in a pub in the Bolton area when he came across the woman.
He took her home.
Due to the woman’s vulnerabilities her mother had installed CCTV in her house.
The footage showed she did not want him in her house and asked him to leave.
She believed he was leaving at one point and told him to lock the door but he locked it from the inside.
He then grabbed the woman and took her into her bedroom.
While there he attempted to rape her.
Astley also urinated on cushions inside the room.
The woman’s mother saw what had taken place and he was arrested later that day.
Astley, from Junction Road, Deane, appeared in court to be sentenced after admitting sexual assault and attempted rape.
A victim personal statement from the woman said that a “loss of confidence resulted from what he did".
Gwen Henshaw, defending, said Astley suffered from learning difficulties himself.
She said: “The author of the report describes his remorse as limited.
“He wanted to tell the author of the report that he was really sorry about what happened.
“He does demonstrate an understanding of how serious what he has done is.”
She added: “He is a victim of bullying within custody having made few friends.
“He is being taunted as he presents as somebody with learning difficulties before he has opened his mouth.
“He is also being taunted because of the offence he has committed.”
The Honorary Recorder of Bolton Judge Martin Walsh said the victim was 'particularly vulnerable', she suffers from learning difficulties.
He said: “She is capable of independent living with support.
“She did not want you at the address.
“She did not encourage you in any way.”
He sent the 20-year-old a young offenders' institute for 63 months.
He also applied a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim indefinitely and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for life.
