Police officers are once again assisting with an ‘abnormal load’ truck this afternoon in Bolton heading towards the M61.
Coming again from an area in Bolton, the truck will be led by a police car as it makes its way towards the M61.
This is the second time in two days the police assisted with an ‘abnormal load’ as yesterday officers helped two trucks leaving Severfield in Bolton.
A short road closure followed on Lostock Lane as the trucks were escorted from 12.30pm.
A spokesman for police said: “Assisting with an abnormal load movement this afternoon in the Bolton area and heading towards the M61.”
In April this year, police assisted abnormal load transportation from Severfield for two 56-tonne structures, and said these were for the Salterhebble Bridge scheme in West Yorkshire.
A video showed the trucks carrying the abnormal loads through Bolton.
GMP Traffic shared the video on social media on the night of January 10 after an escort saw the abnormal loads from Lostock Lane, past the University of Bolton Stadium on De Havilland Way, and onto the motorway.
Andrew Smedley, production director at Severfield Ltd, said at the time: "The Severfield team at Lostock has been working with our partner Collett and Sons on the transportation of what are the largest pieces of steelwork to ever leave our site near to Bolton.
“On January 10, the first load set off under escort to the Salterhebble Bridge Phase 1B project in West Yorkshire, where our construction team, working alongside civil engineering company John Sisk and Son Ltd, is installing a new bridge and link road on behalf of their client, Calderdale Council.”
