Talk about a labour of love. Bolton Wanderers fan Bob Brandon spent almost six years building a scaled down version of the club’s home, Burnden Park.
This photo, from 1981 shows Bob of Oxford Grove with the completed project. He had begun to work on it when he left Whitecroft secondary school.
The stands and terraces were made out of cardboard, the barriers on the terraces made from metal rods and sandpaper was used to re-create the gravel areas around the pitch. The stadium also had balsa wood floodlights and a tannoy system - and both the lights and speakers worked!
What happened to Bob’s Burnden Park? Has it survived? If you can help locate it, email john.anson@nqnw.co.uk or leave a comment.
