RESIDENTS in the Heaton area of Bolton are invited along to a Chatty Café on the third Thursday of each month at Heaton Library.
What started as an annual Summer event in memory of murdered MP Jo Cox in 2017 by a group of locals known as Heaton Together developed into a monthly catch-up by 2019.
Now, the Chatty Café offers a brew and a chat plus homemade cake to help create “an old school community where everyone knows each other” explained one organiser Helen Calderbank.
“This has become a great success story. Friendships have developed and the community is slowly building in between the monthly drop-in sessions as a result.”
The group has also held two sell-out ceilidhs, organized Zoom quizzes during lockdown and joined litter picks and guided walks among other activities.
The next meeting is on Thursday, September 21 from 2pm to 4pm. To find out more email tqqt-heaton@hotmail.com or look for the group on Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor.
