Filming for a new BBC drama telling the story of kidnapping of a British model continued in Bolton today, with crews set to be in town centre for the coming days.

'Kidnapped' is being filmed in Bolton and The Bolton News reported how crews had set up in the Oldhams Estate last week.

The drama based on the true story of Chloe Ayling, a British model who was abducted in Italy in 2017, having travelled there for a photo shoot.

Ms Ayling travelled to Milan in 2017 for a modelling photoshoot, when she was kidnapped by Lukasz Herba and held for six days in a remote farmhouse.

The series follows her terrifying kidnap, her bravery and resilience in captivity, and the subsequent court case that put her kidnappers in jail.

Writer Georgia Lester said: “Every moment that I have spent researching this series and spending time with Chloe, learning about the ordeal she suffered both by the men who abducted her and the people who doubted her, has been shocking and infuriating.

“It’s been an honour to work with Chloe and I can’t wait for audiences to finally see her courage, her charm and her unwavering resilience.”

Despite the convictions, Chloe faced headlines accusing her of faking her own kidnapping and she found herself at the centre of a media storm.

The series asks why Chloe was blamed for her kidnappers’ crimes. How do we relate to survivors of crime who make the front pages? And how does it feel to be an ordinary person, caught up in events so extraordinary that you aren’t believed?

Following her return to England, Ms Ayling read a statement outside her house describing the ordeal.

During last week’s filming lead actress Nadia Parkes, playing Ayling, wore a similar outfit to the one Ayling wore as she read out the statement.

Film crews could be seen at a house on Selkirk Road in Bolton, which was closed off.

Nearby signs stated that the road was closed all week, with sources confirming that the closure was because of the drama.

Filming vans were spotted today (Thursday August 3) at Le Mans Crescent, which is known in Bolton for shows such as Peaky Blinders being shot there.

This comes after crews were spotted last Monday in Bolton town centre for the new Michelle Keegan-led Netflix thriller Fool Me Once.

The eight-part series, based on the book of the same name by Harlan Coben, was being filmed in the cells of the old Magistrates Court on Le Mans Crescent.
