Bolton family business and cable assembly manufacturer, ASL, is celebrating a record financial year after surpassing eight million sales turnover.
It has been an exciting 12 months for the cable assembly company who have grown their sales and also reached record levels for staff which has grown from 60 to 90 full time staff.
During the pandemic, the family firm had a lot of opportunities to support customers with urgent manufacturing requirements.
This work typically would have been done oversees but due to timescales and restrictions, ASL capitalised on buying more tooling and machinery which increased their capacity and broadened the range of cables they could manufacture.
This enabled them to win a lot of new customers of which they have kept until today. The management team has also doubled and total staff level have grown by over 25 per cent which has enabled ASL to handle more projects and create more technical drawings/work instructions.
ASL supply to a wide range of industries, but have seen a big demand this year from Electric Vehicle manufacturers and Test and Measurement companies
Family owners Gareth Balshaw, Sophie Balshaw and Oliver Balshaw say they are thrilled to see continued growth, after the company was passed down to them in March 2020 by father and founder of ASL, Graham Balshaw.
Gareth said:"These are still difficult and uncertain times for the UK economy, so I am delighted to see the company thrive and offering new jobs and apprenticeships at a record rate. Seeing a growth of 25 per cent in the last 12 months hasn’t been easy, and I would like to thank all the staff for their efforts. We are making great progress every month and I’m looking forward to another exciting year ahead.”
