A plan has been lodged to convert a former takeaway into a new family home.
The building, on Queensgate in Heaton, has previously been occupied by hot food outlets Chic Chic Chicken and Queensgate Chippy, at the end of a street of Victoria terraced houses.
But plans put before Bolton Council could see it transformed into a house with three bedrooms.
A statement from the developers said: “The property has amenity space to the front and rear and will be refurbished to a high standard.
“There is on street parking on the street both to the front and side and more than sufficient space for the storage of cycles and bins in the rear yard.”
If approved, redevelopment work will see the shop front taken off and a window matching the rest of the street installed instead.
A new window will also be installed in the gable elevation.
RA Design & Project Management Ltd, who have prepared the plans, have also argued that the site’s location makes it well suited for a family home, with shops and transport links easily found nearby.
A statement said: “The location is excellent and is close to shops including a major Morrisons supermarket, pharmacies, GP surgeries, schools, businesses and public transport links.
“Queens Park is close to this area.
“The area is therefore highly sustainable.”
They have also argued that given Bolton’s much discussed need for housing, the plan to convert the former takeaway could help meet this.
The statement said: “There is a high demand in the area for family housing and in fact, housing supply cannot meet the demand.

“The proposed use will have less impact on the area than a hot food takeaway and it is considered that the change of use will have a positive impact on the area.”
The plans were first put before Bolton Council on Friday July 31 and will be open for neighbourhood consultations until Monday August 14.
This will give people leaving nearby on Queensgate and Mornington Road the chance to have their say on the proposal.
After the consultation period, Bolton Council aims to decide whether or not to approve the plans by Friday September 15 this year.
