Residents have raised concerns over an incident that happened this morning.
The incident took place at around 10.30am on Beech Avenue, but the nature of this is yet to be confirmed.
Some eyewitnesses said that an ambulance was on the scene at around 10.45am, and North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for more information.
A person in the area said: "I saw about two riot vans and seven or eight police cars.
"I have never seen as many police.
"It happened at around 10.30am and the road was blocked off by them.
"I am not sure what happened.
"There was an ambulance here too at about 10.45am.
"Everyone seemed to leave very quickly."
Residents also say that parts of the road were also blocked off by police, and they were unable to get through.
At the time former councillor Sean Hornby said: "I was coming along Mytham Road and I saw lots of police vehicles.
"On Beech Avenue there were six vehicles, and the road was cordoned off.
"Residents were outside to see what happened."
A dog walker says she saw a large police presence, and says they have now left the scene.
Residents said they were concerned over what happened.
One resident said: "I saw about five police cars and an ambulance.
"We are not sure what happened though.
"The road was blocked so you couldn't get through some of it."
Police have been contacted for a formal comment.
