Drivers and bus passengers in Bolton and Bury are being reminded about the closure of a road in Kearsley from tomorrow, Monday.
Stoneclough Road will be closed at the Kearsley Rail Station bridge for a period of approximately 10 weeks from tomorrow, Monday July 24, to allow contractors working on behalf of Network Rail to carry out works.
While the road is closed, pedestrian access will be maintained under the bridge and the rail service will be unaffected by these works.
However, the 512, 513 and 557 bus services will be impacted, as well as the 887, 889, 910 and 939 school buses.
A free shuttle bus, funded by Network Rail, will be provided for residents which will operate every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, from approximately 9.30am to 2.30pm.
The service will link residents of Prestolee, Ringley Bridge and Ringley Fold with the eastern side of the railway bridge.
A connecting bus to Farnworth will be waiting on the western side of the bridge.
Multiple bus services will be impacted during the works, this includes the 512 Bury to Prestolee to Farnworth service.
During the closure, the service will be split, Farnworth to Grosvenor Road to Stoneclough Road (turning just before the bridge) and then Prestolee Estate to Radcliffe to Bury.
On Sundays and Bank Holidays the service will extend beyond Prestolee to Stoneclough Road/Europa Trading Estate.
Between the hours of approximately 10am and 2pm a free shuttle bus will be available on the western side of the bridge for onward travel to Farnworth.
Most buses on service 512 will run at the same, or similar, times to now though service users are asked to check the timetables before travel.
The 513 bus service from Bury to Ringley Bridge to Farnworth will also be impacted.
During the closure, the service will be split, Farnworth to Stoneclough Road (turning just before the bridge) and then Ringley Bridge to Hulme Road to Radcliffe to Bury.
Most buses on service 513 will run at the same, or similar, times to now though the service will be reduced between Farnworth and Stoneclough Road. Service users are asked to check the timetable before travel.
The 557 Ringley Fold to Farnworth to Royal Bolton Hospital service will also be impacted.
During the closure, service 557 will be curtailed to operate between Farnworth Bus Station and Royal Bolton Hospital and will not serve the section of route between Farnworth and Ringley Fold.
The Stoneclough road closure will also affected various school buses.
This includes the 887 bus service to Bury CE High School.
During the closure of Stoneclough Road service 887 will be curtailed to run between Stoneclough and Bury CE High School.
Surveys show six students boarding between Pendlebury and Kearsley.
Frequent Services 8 and 524, changing at Moses Gate, provide a link between Pendlebury and Bury.
The closure will impact the 889 service to Unsworth Academy.
During the closure of Stoneclough Road service 889 will be curtailed to run between Stoneclough and Unsworth Academy.
Frequent services 37,524 and 97, changing at Moses Gate and Manchester Road, Bury, provide a link between Farnworth and Unsworth.
The 910 bus service to Canon Slade School will also be impacted as during the closure of Stoneclough Road, service 910 will be curtailed to run between Bolton Road and Canon Slade School.
Finally, the works will also impact the 939 bus service to St James’s School.
During the closure of Stoneclough Road service 939 will be revised to operate nonstop between Ringley Road, opposite Hulme Road, and Long Causeway to St James’ School.
