Children at a nursery were given an emotional send off as they graduated.

Heaton Dene Nursery in Westhoughton held its annual graduation production, which is done to give the children a chance to have some fun and celebrate moving on to the next chapter.

The Chorley Road nursery was established almost 30 years ago and prides itself on being nurturing and caring and having a "family feel".

Each year they hold the graduation to give parents and carers an insight into some of the things the children undertake whilst at nursery.

Leanne Sharpe of Heaton Dene said: "The show is mostly dedicated to the children having lots of fun whilst singing, dancing and performing.

"We strive to help all the children develop and sharpen their many skills, the production demonstrates their journey through the nursery as they are confident, happy and socially engaged children who are bursting with energy and motivation.

"At nursery we make 'moving on' to the next chapter a fun and exciting time and make their last days in nursery as special as can be.

"This year's production has been especially emotional, as there wasn't a dry eye in the room thankfully we had plenty of tissues to hand.

"The whole room was bursting with love and pride. Continue to shine you superstars, love from all the staff at Heaton Dene."

One parent said: "Absolutely unbelievable team, I can't put into words how much we will miss them.

"My son started nursery at nine months old, in this time he was diagnosed non verbal autistic. The support, love and patience all the staff have given him has been amazing. We could not have wished for him to carry out his nursery journey anywhere else."
