Residents have moved into a new community venue in Great Lever.
A huge celebration to mark its opening has taken place and was officially opened by Pipe Major Jasmin of the Bolton Caledonian pipe band.
The event included veterans from Bolton and Bury, who will among the people using the centre, as well as Cllr Linda Thomas and Cllr Akhtar Zaman.
They celebrated the opening of the new Slaterfield Community venue at Heywood Park Young People centre, on Saturday July 15.
Chairman Simon Skirving and ex-forces veteran said: “We are providing a service for our veterans in Bolton and other areas to come along and meet up with.
“Other veterans and residents aim to help them reintegrate back into our community.
“For far too long our veterans have been forgotten.
“We as a resident association want to help whilst looking after residents also.
“For our coffee morning /brunch for residents and veterans alike, we aim to support residents of Slaterfield and Great Holme.
“This is something I am very passionate about as an ex-veteran myself it’s nice to give something back.
“We will be running different events throughout the year and also a once a monthly resident's meeting.
“I need to thank Bolton Council for their fantastic support, especially Angela Kaye, David Hayes, Cllr Ryan Bamforth, and my committee.”
The community group are also keen for any businesses to get in touch if they are able to help with any donations to help towards the cost of the space.
There will be a coffee morning held every Saturday from 10am-2pm, which is open to all residents and veterans.
This also as well as a monthly Residents Association Meeting on the last Saturday afternoon of the month from 1pm.
