A driver has been taken to hospital with “serious injuries” after a crash on a major road in Bolton.
Police were called to Halliwell Road at the junction of Draycott Street in Bolton shortly after 3am on Saturday.
Officers attended and it was established that four vehicles were involved in a collision, one of the cars was travelling along Halliwell Road towards Bolton, when a second car attempted to turn right out of Draycott Street and the collision occurred.
The second car was propelled toward the junction of Worcester Street. The first car continued to drive and collided with a third and fourth vehicle, which were both parked and unattended.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the first vehicle, a 33-year-old man, is also in hospital receiving treatment for what is believed to be superficial injuries.
Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident - or may have dashcam or doorbell footage - to please share it with GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU).
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 3am on Saturday 8 July, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision on Halliwell Road, Bolton.
“Two fire engines from Bolton Central and a technical rescue unit from Leigh quickly attended the scene where two cars had collided.
"Two casualties were freed from the vehicles by firefighters using spreading and cutting equipment. They were then both taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service. Firefighters were in attendance for 40 minutes.”
